Curupira, with his characteristic red fire hair and his two backward pointing feet, is a forest spirit from Brazilian folklore and a prominent figure in legends of the Brazilian Amazon. Known as a playful trickster and a protector of the rainforest, he guards the forest and its animals by misleading hunters and others who threaten to harm them, making him a classic trickster figure.
