3 guides – how to choose your skateboard deck, trucks and wheels

Finding your ideal deck size might take same time. There's no one-size-fits-all answer – it comes down to both personal preference and factors like your shoe size, height and skating style.
While there's no strict rule, the chart below offers a useful starting point based on measurements.
1. deck width – what about my shoe size?
A. DECK SIZE (see chart below):
Deck sizes for smaller kids (generally, up to 12 years old, to 155 cm and up to a shoe size of 38) should get a deck between 7.0" and 8.0".
Deck sizes for teens and adults generally range from 7.5" and up.
If you’ve got a shoe size between 39 and 41 a board choice between 7.75” and 8.375” usually feels the best. For bigger shoes like an EU 42+, a board that’s 8.25” or wider usually works well.

B. SHOE SIZE (see picture below):
Shoe size matters! Your feet should not be too big or too small on your deck (see the red examples). Make sure that your toes and heels can just come over the edge (green example).

At the end of the day, it’s what feels good for you – this is just a starting point.
2. what about trucks?
For trucks, pick trucks that correspond to your deck width!
Brands have their own size charts. Some truck brands use inches, some brands use millimeters and some have other ways to measure. In our webshop, for each model we sell, you can see the size guide for that truck brand.

Make sure your truck is about the same width as the width of your deck.
The three pictures below are showing: the skateboard deck width (above) and (underneath) the truck (without wheels).
1. First picture (green) is the right size – the deck and the truck are aligned
2. Second picture (red) the truck is too big for the deck
3. Third picture (red) the truck it too small for the deck
3. how about wheels?
wheel diameter – rough guidequick questions about size and how to choose
Our 4Msb deck size range is based on what most street and park skaters ride. Ranges from 8.00” to 8.35” are ideal for both styles. The narrower end of the range is good for technical skating, while the wider allows for better control and stability – perfect for all around.
Truck width should be about the same as the width of your deck.
We carry bearing with ABEC ratings 5 and 7 for the brands skateovation and 4Msb.
ABEC rating between 5 and 7 gets the job done – they’re great for a balance between speed and control.
Most skaters go with a standard black griptape – it’s grippy, durable and does the job well. If you’re just starting out, stick to a medium-coarse grip for control and comfort. A rougher grip means more flick, but takes a bit of a toll on your shoes.
It all comes down to your feel and style. You’ll figure out what works for you over time.
Start with a deck that fits your shoes and style – most street and park skaters go with a width between 8.00” and 8.375”. Trucks should be about the same width as your skateboard deck.
Get wheels between 50 and 56 mm with bearings with an ABEC rating between 5 and 7. Smaller wheels for more technical skating and tricks.
